Whitby Bowling Club

Club Roll Up Days
In many ways the club roll up days are the ‘life and soul’ of the club. By participating you will be able to practice and improve your bowls, quickly meet other members and start to enjoy all the benefits of membership.
During the season we have a roll-up every Tuesday commencing at 12.45pm and every Friday commencing at 3pm. These events are for a two hours and everyone wears mufti.
We ask that you are there 15 minutes before the start time and to put you name tag in so you will be included in the draw. If you are going to be a tad late you can ask someone to put your tag in for you. The member arranging the teams for the games will place you in a friendly team and as a new player you will find others are there to help you enjoy yourself.
Don’t worry that you haven’t played much – no one else will either. Some members may provide some quiet guidance – this is to help your introduction to bowls and is not meant as a criticism. Roll-ups are played in good humour with lots of talking and laughing and often with a bit of friendly banter.
Informal Games or Practice
At times, when the green is not being used for club, centre and championship events any full playing, limited and associate member is welcome to use it for practice and casual play.
Inclement weather conditions or green maintenance may also result in the closure of the green.
Details of green and rink availability are displayed on a board inside the window of the old Match Room facing the green. This information includes:
-
If the Green is open or closed
-
The direction of play – either North/South or East/West
-
Which rinks are to be used
-
Any other additional information
This information needs to be checked before any play commences. For the benefit of members you can also click on the link below to check availability before leaving home.
