Club Captain Role Description
Responsibilities:
The Club Captain is primarily the custodian of the Club’s values and behaviours and is a positive role model for all members of the club.
The Club Captain enhances the fellowship, culture and smooth running of the club by providing the
‘people linkage’ between clubs members and the Board. The club Captain is an integral part of the
Club is well known by members and is the friendly face of the club.
Reports to:
President (or nominated Board member)
Principal Duties:
Identify and train at least one person as a backup
Ensure all new members are welcomed to the club and help them settle into all aspects of “club life”
Communicate with club members and provide support and advice where necessary
Encourage participation and direct new members to the appropriate coaching, tournaments,
championship events and competitions
Be available to existing and new members, providing support and resolution of queries and concerns
Direct queries as necessary to the appropriate club representative and in doing so ensure the member receives the necessary reply and action
Liaise with the other club captain and key club members responsible for e.g. membership, tournaments, coaching, volunteering and social
Report on the culture and morale of the club, and represent the views and interests of club members to the President or designated Board Member
'Manage by walking about’ i.e. keep in touch with members and look after the people
Extend a welcome to visitors, including visiting bowlers attending our events
Monitor the health and welfare of any club members that are unwell, provide compassion to families and organize support as necessary
Success indicators: - delivering a high level of membership satisfaction and enjoyment and
recognised as a champion of our Values.
